Keziah Gambill Brown -3rd Great Grandmother

     Keziah "Kezzie" Gambill, daughter of John Gambill and Sarah Kimbro, was born 12 March 1806 in Rutherford County, TN.2,3,4,5,6,7

     Based on a source of information that may not be reliable, it is possible that Keziah "Kezzie" Gambill was born in 1808 in TN.8 9

     Keziah "Kezzie" Gambill, Frances Permelia Gambill, Charlotte Gambill, Elizabeth Gambrill and Martha J. "Polly" Gambill was probably a free white female under 10 years of age, in John Gambrell’s household on the 1810 Census in Rutherford County, TN.9

     Keziah "Kezzie" Gambill and Frances Permelia Gambill was probably a free white female, age ten to 16 years, in John Gambill’s household, on the 1820 Census of Rutherford County, TN.10 
     A date for the marriage of Wiley S. Brown and Keziah "Kezzie" Gambill was recorded in Rutherford County, TN, on 12 October 1824. This date is incorrect.4

     Kissiah Gambrel married Willie Brown, son of Nathaniel Brown and Mary Clark, on 12 October 1829 in Rutherford County, TN. Jesse Brown was surety.11

     Keziah "Kezzie" Gambill was probably a free white female, age 20 and under 30, in Wiley S. Brown’s household, on the 1830 Census in Williamson County, TN.12 
     Kezzie and Wiley became the parents of John Clark Brown on 10 December 1831 in Williamson County, TN.13,4,14,6,8,15

     Kezzie and Wiley became the parents of Susannah "Susie" Brown before 1835 in Williamson County, TN.4,8,16

     Kezzie  and Wiley became the parents of Sarah Catherine Brown in October 1835 in TN.17

     Kezzie and Wiley became the parents of William Tilford Brown on 8 March 1837.4,8

     Article I, section 2, of the U.S. Constitution requires that a decennial population census, a nationwide enumeration or count of the population, be taken every 10 years. The 1840 census included a special inquiry regarding pensioners for Revolutionary or military service. This section named persons who were either family heads or members and specified the pensioner’s age, not just a range of ages. Keziah "Kezzie" Gambill was probably a free white female, age 30 and under 40, in Wiley S. Brown’s household, on the 1840 Census in Williamson County, TN.18 18

     When John Gambill wrote his will on 16 May 1843 in Rutherford County, TN,, Kiziah Brown was named as an heir.1

     John Gambill, father of Keziah "Kezzie" Gambill died between 16 May 1843 and 6 July 1843 in Rutherford County, TN.4

     The 1850 Federal Population census was the first to record each person’s name, their specific age, and the occupation of those over age 15. It gave their place of birth, and value of any real estate they owned. Enumeration began on 01 Jun 1850. Wilie Brown (age 42) was listed as the head of the household on the 1850 Census on 5 October 1850 in the Gambill District of Rutherford County, TN. Residing in the same household was Kezzy Brown (age 42), Jno. c. Brown (age 18), Susanah Brown (age 14), Wm. Brown (age 12).8 
     Wiley and Keziah’s son, William Tilford Brown, died on 15 October 1851.4

     On 18 June 1860, K. Brown (age 52) was listed as a household member living with W. Brown (age 52) in the 1860 census in the 3rd Civil District of Rutherford County, TN. The official date for this census was 01 June 1860. 5 5

     Kizzie Brown (age 62), Lucy Brown, Rose Brown, Anderson Brown and Phillis Brown was listed on 1 August 1870 as a household member living with Wiley Brown (age 62) on the 1870 census in the 3rd Civil District of Rutherford County, TN. The official date for this census was 01 June 1870. 7 
     Kezzie Brown died 21 November 1874 in Rutherford County, TN.4,6

     Kezzie Brown was buried in Rutherford County, TN.4,6
