Working on mom’s house, mostly painting, I have lost a lot of weight and really toned up. But alas all good things must come to an end. Hubby and I walk when we can, but my migraines and allergies make it hard to get outside some days, so I wanted a way to [...]

When the kids were little we had a saying that “God smiled on me…” when ever God did something that was unexpected, like a rainbow on a sunny day, or finding extra money left in an old pair of pants, or running into a friend at a take out place at lunch.
Well, today I am [...]

Lineman for the county. Wasn’t that a Glenn Campbell song? Even though TVA wasn’t formed until 1933, demand for electricity was high in Tennessee in 1930 and [...]

The weather here is so beautiful and Hubby and I decided to enjoy the pool today. And now I am sunburned. And itchy…But I did get in. Boy was it cold!
But I had a nice restful weekend and am ready for another week of work, kids, mom, genealogy.
Been working on the 1930 census [...]

As cool as the 1930 census is, I am excited to see the 1940 census released in 2012, because my father will be on it. It will be so cool to see his name listed there with his brothers and sisters and my grand parents. I also hope to finally find out the [...]

In October 1929, the stock market in New York crashed. In the weeks and months that passed, our nation fell into the worse financial times in it’s history, known as the great depression.
Anyone looking at families on the 1930 census can easily see the effects of this depression a year later. [...]

It was 87 today! And boy am I loving it. Last night I had a chance to work on the 1930 census via Footnote.com. I like their new search engines and was finding more people than I had time to use last night. I can’t wait to see them get all the [...]
