Are virtual funerals next?

I called mom to see what time I needed to be at her house for a doctor’s appt tomorrow and we were talking about last minute details and scheduling issues, when she asked me if I knew a cousin was in the hospital with an aneurysm. No, I replied I hadn’t heard. How would [...]

Update…

Well, you know it’s not good when you are greeted by the mom at the door with hand sanitizer and an apology. That’s how my best friend greeted me yesterday when she came to pick up her oldest after taking the youngest to the doctor.
“So what do we have?” I asked.
“Type A Influenza, I’m [...]

Today I am just thankful…

for three healthy kids…
The kids and I have been busy doing our Monday chores and trying to get back into a pre-school routine. We did our Monday chores and then they all headed out to Subway for lunch. My best friend is bringing her oldest of the practice grandchildren by for me to [...]

Sinus, sinus go away…

Just trying to enjoy some rather cool summer time weather we have been having lately, but alas, sinus headache has been a killer this week. Whatever normally blooms in late September must be blooming now because of the cool weather, because I am having unseasonably weird sinus attacks. Makes it hard to work [...]

School is approaching, I can feel it…

Saw my favorite Staples commercial, the one where the father is zooming through the store on the back of a buggy singing “It’s the most wonderful time of the year” while his kids look forlorn. The buggy is full of school supplies.
Today we had to sign up for cheerleading and I got an email [...]

Secret Languages…

Mothers of twins will tell you that their children have secret languages. I am not really so sure.
Let me tell you of my cousin J and I. J’s mother died of cancer when he was 3. J and I were only 16 months apart and because we lived on the family farm, J and [...]

My hands smell like bleach…

No, I haven’t been cleaning today. The kids wanted to swim and the pool was in desperate need of some chemicals and apparently that’s a mom’s job. LOL So I now smell a little like bleach. Did clean yesterday and did a lot of genealogy searching. Didn’t find a soul. That’s the [...]

Genealogy and RSS and how we get our news instantly…

When I was little there was a war going on. I did not know it. In fact, I did not know anything about the Vietnam conflict being fought in my lifetime until I was in high school and we studied it and I realized that it had happened during my entire childhood. How, you may [...]

Ancestry changes name again?…

Or was it Generations Network changing to Ancestry.com? I swear I can’t keep up. Why do they change their name so often? Isn’t stationary expensive? I knew something was up when all my RSS feeds were full this morning. Something big was going down in the genealogical community for all the big name bloggers [...]

My Sister’s Keeper…

#3 wanted to go see this movie, so I thought I’d humor her by going and seeing it today. I didn’t have any desire to see it at all, but she’d been wanting to go, and since she never wants to go to a movie at the theater, I thought we’d branch out and actually [...]
