Why Genealogy with an Internet connection can be so…

Productive: Had a problem understanding how a life estate worked. Sent an email to Advanced-Research-L@rootsweb.com and within 24 hours had my answer and a lot of good future research advice from people who know what they are doing. Unproductive: Spent 4 hours reading the ABC Bachelor blog. It was like playing slots in Vegas. You [...]

Cemeteries…

Okay it’s about 24 degrees outside, so none of us want to be trampling through cemeteries today, but I have been working on my blog all afternoon and have moved several cemeteries to the blog today. And have done a little advertising around the blogosphere. Check me out at http://rutherfordcemetery.wordpress.com/ So today it’s not been [...]

In Search of Collaterals…

It’s been said that if you can’t find an ancestor, hop on the collateral train. I have looked for the parentage of George L. Gee for 20 years. Nothing, Nada, more brick walls than you can count. He currently has 14 parents in TMG that are marked Father-Not (This person is NOT his father) or [...]

Genealogy Productivity

I have a fun week coming up. Only have to work a few hours on Monday and a few on Tuesday and then I am off for the holidays! I am looking forward to a little genealogy free time. Today I am making the most of a cold Sunday by working on Marriages. First I [...]

We Lost! Football season is over!

They are ready to be teenagers and have some down time. Last night was our one and only tournament [...]

Progress at last

Tonight I have found a lot more marriage records and brought my source total to 2950. Just 50 shy of my goal of 3000. With all the new stuff for genealogist coming online each day, it may be hard to believe I still prefer to sit at my desk, cranking a microfilm machine. But I [...]

When the sugar wears off

Man, are we a tired family. None of us slept yesterday, because of the slumber party. It was so much fun though. The girls all left happy from staying up all night, grumpy from the same, and I actually got a little nap before dad took us out to dinner. I did get some cemeteries [...]
