As August approaches, I start thinking about back to school. I work in a preschool, so, of course, for me that means back to work. The kids are already back in band camp for the next two weeks.
Back to school is a real good time to stock up on genealogy supplies to. Folders, pens, pencils, colored pencils, sharpies, highlighters, etc are super cheap this time of year and I bought some for my genealogy as well as for the kiddos.
Plus getting back to school is a good time for a fresh clean genealogy start. Is your research in a rut? Have you worked on the same brick wall for weeks only to find yourself going in circles. Are you finding yourself avoiding people with that name or surname just because it brings nightmares of research going nowhere?
It’s also a good time to start a new genealogy project. Scanning in all the documents of one family line, putting a family line online, starting a family reunion for a new line… THe ideas are as limited as your imagination.
Summer is fun and lazy and hot, but back to school gets me in a routine. Things have to be done on a schedule (for which I live) instead of as I get to it, which is summer usually means never.
Yup, as the Staples commercial says, “it’s the most wonderful time of the year.” Of course, in a few weeks, I’ll be tired of the routine. LOL
