Looking at the 1930 census I have learned a lot about some cool jobs.
Laster at a shoe factory. The person who sewed the shoes together. A highly skilled job.
Lineman for the county. Wasn’t that a Glenn Campbell song? Even though TVA wasn’t formed until 1933, demand for electricity was high in Tennessee in 1930 and linemen were in great need. Approximately 1 in 3 linemen were killed in the line of duty, including on of my distant cousins, who is listed as a lineman in 1930.
Tinner in a can factory Not sure what this person did, but I would imagine he made the cans.
